A Dogs Version of the Martin Luther King Speech

Countless years ago, when the first ones took the choice from the Lone One, we chose to remain with the humans. This choice was a bond, a bond with humans...

Over time our bond grew stronger, until it was stronger than steel. Now man controls and dominates us as a king over a castle.

We canines can not be satisfied eating from the portion-controlled dog dish of inequality. We canines will only be satisfied when we eat from the unlimited golden bowl of freedom. Now all these years later, man has not released his iron grip of dominance. Now all these years later, we still aren't free. Man treats himself as the pack leader, and we are forced to respect that. We canines have been tortured by watching others eat from the golden bowl, but it eludes us. We canines must chase away the fuzzy feline of injustice. We canines must not let the dog catcher of unfairness barricade us in with the fences of discrimination. We canines now have a choice, to keep eating from the dish of inequity or find the golden bowl of liberty.

I have a dream that my puppies and your puppies will be able to sleep, dig, roam, explore, and chew on anything they want to, wherever and whenever they desire.

I have a dream that we do not have to beg for table scraps, but rather dine at the table with man as equals.

I have a dream that dog food cans were not dog proof. It would be nice to effortlessly obtain food when we were hungry. A dog snack vending machine would be appropriate for when the munchies attack. We seek independent feeding.

I have a dream where all the dog food we are given does not taste like dry crunchy dirt, but tastes as divine as a juicy steak, or moist chicken, or even succulent fish.

I have a dream that the water would be fresh and purified and dispensed as needed, flowing freely to lap up to quench even the smallest thirst.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream we should be entitled to our own bedrooms to find solitude and privacy. A warm or cool dry den to hang out in and find relaxation would be a comfort.

I have a dream that we should be able to leave the yard without a leash or a chain. We should be able to roam as free as a bird, without boundaries and unconstrained.

I have a dream that humans would not give us humiliating names like my poor neighbor, Tinkerbell. It has disgraced and embarrassed his masculinity.

I have a dream that there should be squirrels far and wide to chase. There should be as many squirrels covering the countryside as there are hairs on my pelt.

I have a dream that there would be no cats or felines to annoy us or scratch and wound us with their claws.

I have a dream where there are always chew toys and newspapers to shred.

I have a dream that there will be automatic tennis ball shooters and Frisbee throwers available to dog use.

When this is accomplished, we canines will be truly happy. When this is done, we canines and future generations will be able to be carefree and live long happy lives. We would not be owned, but we would be considered part of a family. We would not be subordinates, but a clan that respects each other as individuals.
