The more I think about it the more it seems to me that men have much in common with cats. I'm not thinking about the kind that roam the jungles, but rather the smaller domesticated version closer to home.
They both enjoy chasing balls, although men prefer to do it with a partner or a team, while cats are content to play alone. They never seem to grow out of this and still make the effort in old age when chase gives way to plod.
At times they choose to retire to their "cave" whether that is a garden shed, a den or a favoured armchair. They do not like to be disturbed during this retreat but will emerge in due course feeling recharged.
Men are curious about how things work and will investigate even to the point of taking things apart to get a closer look. This sometimes leads to complications and things do not work so well afterwards.
They will defend their freedom and independence, even though you know it might not be in their best interest. If you hold them too tightly they will wriggle and squirm until they escape. When they leave the house they rarely look back. They are heading into their own world and will return much later with empty stomachs. You know this leads to their hearts and feed them immediately. After which they settle down happily for the rest of the evening.
They are fascinated with computers and spend hours on the keyboard playing with the mouse, apparently achieving very little in the process.
The television also gets a considerable amount of their attention. They are fascinated by nature programs, especially those with lots of birds on view. However their all- time favourites are Football Matches which excite them. They rarely notice that everyone else has left the room.
