Cats and Social Status

Did you know that cats have a very complex social life? In every town one cat is the King and others must surrender to him or fight him. See inside what you can do to boost the social importance of your little cat.

Cats compared to dogs have a much more interesting social life. Did you know that when you pick your cat and pet him in front of his friends you are insulting him?

Social Rules For Cats

1- Never spend a day running after food. A king cat has his own masters giving as much food as he wants without having to beg for it.

2- Never let your master pick or pet you. When you want to be petted you know where your master is and you know where to go.

3- The highest spot is mine all the time. If I see another cat in my spot I will immediately start a fight with him to show who's in charge here.

4- Never let a dog enter our personal space. Fight him if you must. A dog in our space means lower status to the friends.

5- Children are there just to steal the food are attention from our master. Since we can't make the child go away we must be friends with it so we get more food and attention. Sleeping with the child is a must as well. This way you show your friends you still maintain your status on the house.

6- Never let the master sleep alone. A master that allows his pet to sleep with him shows the cat has high value to the master. The cat sees this as high social value. Cats must watch over his back so he can live to feed him another day.

7- Never leave the master alone in the house when he comes. This way he knows we miss him and he knows how important they are for us. When the friends see you can be around the master your status is boosted again.

8- Never skip an option to pet your master in front of your friends.

9- Finally never let your master bring a new cat to the house.

Our cats have a definate social order too, but I find that when I pick one up it looks at the others as if to say "HA HA, she likes me better".

As my wife stated our cats have a definate social order, but what she failed to mention is that when they think no one is watching they all get along great. Also on days that I have off alone they feel more relaxed and we all just lay around watching television and getting along just fine. Ssssh no one is supposed to know about that.
