Nine Uses for Old RAM Memory

Some good uses for old or obsolete RAM. Don't throw it away, reuse it.

Have you upgraded the RAM in your computer lately, only to wonder what to do with the old sticks? Do you have a bunch of these sticks hanging around collecting dust? Should you throw them away or recycle? Should you try to sell them for cash? You won't get much.

For you non-computer savvy readers, RAM stands for Random Access Memory. It's used to temporarily store information in your computer. It comes in different sizes and types that are progressively improved as or more often then the computer itself, hence the desire to upgrade. Here are a few ideas for that old, obsolete memory:

  1. Bookmark

  2. The thin profile and perfect length makes a stick of RAM a perfect bookmark.

  3. Spackle Knife

  4. Use the short side to scoop the Spackle out of the container, and the long side to feather out the edges of your patch. Clean with soap and water.
  5. Wood Carving

Use the brass end to carve a shape out of your favorite soft woods.
  6. Plant Marker

Use a label maker or magic marker on the RAM, and then stick it in the ground next to freshly sewn seeds.

  7. Fingernail Cleaner

  8. Keychain

  9. Slip a ring through the hole in the corner and you instantly have a very original keychain. Be careful not to sit on it.
  10. To Level Furniture

  11. Straightedge

  12. The plastic edge is perfect for creating straight lines on paper or for other projects that a straight line is needed.
  13. Coffee Stirrer

Do not use in combination with uses 2, 3, 4, 5 & 7. Not dishwasher safe.

Every day someone is replacing the RAM in their computer. The endless desire and need for speed has caused the novice computer user to want to add or replace RAM at an exceedingly increasing frequency. Don't sell or trash that obsolete RAM. There are many uses around the office, home and garden for that old memory. Come up with your own uses for it. Maybe you'll create a new invention by accident!
