Grandmother MONITOR rose up and said “good morning ladies and gentlemen, you are all welcome to this important meeting.
“I should be your leader”
“Why?” everyone asked
“I am the only device in the computer system that works as both Input device and output device. I am an input device because I allow humans to see whatever data they input into the computer system and I am an output device because the result or output of the processing is displayed on me.” Grandmother monitor replied.
Every one nodded to show approval of Grandma Monitor.
“No way” shouted the twin SPEAKERS as the stood to oppose grandma monitor
“We are Output device too and our cousin MICROPHONE is an Input device. We bring out sounds from the computer system that makes human happy and our cousin allow humans to record their voices and send to their friends. She cannot be our leader because we belong to the same group.”
Immediately, there was uproar in the house as some rose in support of Grandma Monitor while others opposed her.
Mr. Printer rose to speak “I strongly agree with what the two speakers said.
“I am an Output device; whatever I print on paper is called hardcopy while whatever is displayed on Grandma Monitor is called Softcopy. If I don’t print on paper, humans will find it difficult to store their information.
“My brother SCANNER is an Input device; he helps humans to scan their photos and written documents into the computer system to be shared with their friends. So Grandmother Monitor cannot be our leader.”
The noise in the room grew louder and louder.
Suddenly, someone shouted, “I should be the leader”
It was young MOUSE.
“What? What do you think this meeting is all about? Do you think we are all here to play” Miss KEYBOARD retorted.
Everyone busted into laughter.
“Oh Miss Keyboard let’s hear him out. Everyone is equal in this place.” Said Mr. Scanner
Young mouse stammered “I…I…I…make it easier for humans to access icons and programs on the computer system. Without me, it could be difficult for humans to operate the computer system and when I go badly, they get mad at all of us”.
“No! that is not correct, if you go badly; they throw you away and get a better replacement for you like STYLUS PEN. Moreover, there are so many shortcuts on me that could make humans do without you. For example, in Microsoft Windows Operating System, they can shut down the computer system by pressing the window key and U twice and in Linux Operating system they use Ctrl + S. Most of all you cannot be our leader because you look like a rat that is why you are called mouse.” Miss Keyboard mocked.
Everyone laughed and laughed again and clapped for Miss Keyboard.
From the back of the room, somebody spoke with a very deep voice
“Then I should be the leader.
The whole room was silent as the voice terrified them all; they turned their heads to see who talked from behind. It was Mr. HARD DISK.
“I am the primary storage in the computer system. The Operating System and all application packages are installed in me. Without me, the whole computer system is useless because no program can be accessed.”
Before he could take his seat, Dr.
RAM (Random Access Memory) shouted
“Don’t you ever forget Mr. Hard Disk that you depend on people like me to function. Though I may be small in stature, yet I am very important in the computer system. Without me, the computer system will not boot. Whatever you have said does not make you our leader.
Everyone was amazed as their mouth dropped wide open at the way he addressed Mr. Hard disk
There was confusion in the house; no one wanted any other person to be the leader.
