Balut
Never heard of it, have you? Then you're probably not from the Philippines. Balut is considered a delicacy in the Philippines. But what is it exactly? Balut is a fertilized duck egg with a nearly-developed embryo. The egg is then boiled and consumed with a pinch of salt. Why do they let the duck embryo develop a couple of days before consumption of it? To give the food some texture. The worst part of it all is you can see the duck fetus while eating it.
Cobra Heart
It looks tasty and juicy doesn't it? Cobra heart comes from our good old friends, the Vietnamese. Cobra heart is served just as it is show in the picture above. Completely raw and uncooked. In addition to that, the heart is still beating and it's chugged down with a little bit of Cobra blood. Just think of it as an some expensive wine being served.
Monkey Brains
How often can any one of us say “I had brains for dinner.” Not very often, I hope. The reality of it is that eating brains is something that's very hard for most of us to comprehend. Monkeys are the closest animals we have to us humans and now we're eating their brains?
Ox Penis
This is reality folks. Ox penis isn't eaten everywhere in the world, but it is in many Southeast Asia countries. It is normally steamed or deep fried before consumption by a human or it could be eaten raw if he or she chooses to do so. I would like to meet the ma(or woman) who would have the stomach to eat this raw.
Hachinoko
Hachinoko, or bee larvae, isn't eaten as a meal now a days, but it is still eaten. Hachinoko became popular years ago when country people were deprived of fish and meat. The country people were forced to find another source of protein and so they found hachinoko.
