In Minnesota

Thirteen Facts About the Land of the Ice and Snow.

  • It gets to be negative 75 degrees with windchill and people call it “a bit chilly”
  • People are known to sit on a frozen lake ice fishing and start a fire to keep warm. And are then surprised when the ice melts
  • The temperature gets into positive numbers and the weatherman calls it a heat wave
  • We get over a foot of snow and still go to school/work
  • We get temperatures below 40 degrees and still go to school/work
  • Someone from out of town cranks their building's thermostat up above 60 degrees and their co-workers start opening up windows
  • Girls wear short denim skirts and tank tops in sub zero temperatures
  • Guys wear shorts and t shirts in sub zero temperatures
  • Some mornings it is so cold that diesel fuel freezes into a jell-o like substance and buses won't start. On these days parents are required to drive their children to school so they aren't absent
  • If you spill coffee on the ground within seconds you will have a brownish patch of ice
  • Minnesotans fully support and endorse global warming
  • All public buildings are built with airlocks to conserve heat. Note-airlocks are also built on space shuttles because the environment in space destroys life as we know it.
  • People who take showers in the morning dry themselves thoroughly because any moisture on their bodies when they step outside will turn into ice in minutes.
