My days as a teller are numbered, for I have found that dealing with other people's money is no walk in the park. There are many nuances to any job, but working in a bank drive thru seems to be the top of the crop when it comes to things that annoy me. Here is a guideline to what one should know when coming through the bank drive through.
Money is Money
I always seem to get that person who wants twenty dollars in certain numerical dominations. (Example: Can I get 2 fives, five ones, and five dollars in quarters?) It's like people are so afraid of large bills, the world is coming to an end if they get a hundred dollar bill. A fifty spends the same way a five would people! (Except ten more times.)
The suction tube is not a toy for your children
People think it's cute for their kids to hang out of the car window, just so they can watch the tube fly into the air, and back into the bank. (Sorry to burst your bubble kids. It's really not magic when your parents make you do their transaction, because they're too lazy to put their own money in the tube.)
Be Prepared
The key words here are drive thru. A drive thru is supposed to be quick and convenient, not slow and a waste of time. If you have the time to ask for a withdrawal slip and a pen, you have time to walk inside and fill one out. (Quick note: do I sound bitter?)
Your bank teller is not a lowly peon
Just because you have a million dollars in your bank account doesn't mean you forgot how to say thank you. Remember: I can just easily deposit it as I can withdraw it, out of your account and into mine.
Coming right before we close is not lucky (Not in my book)
Last minute check cashiers will be shot at the door. No exceptions for the elderly on social security.
Lastly, if you are guilty of any of these offenses, please take consideration of the peons, I mean people that take care of your cushion. It's all about the Benjamin's, but what about the Washington's? (That's a one dollar bill for you dummies out there.) Without the bank, your money would still be under some mattress somewhere.(Futons do not apply.)
