We all have feelings of invisibility where no one is paying attention to who were. Sometimes it is for the simplest of reasons - someone wants to make us feel that way. Sometimes it is because we want to be invisible. When you are visible, people notice, you and they acknowledge your presence. They may use the simplest of statements -a word like “Hi!”
On Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman Alan Morris became invisible, at home and at work. No one noticed he was around. His wife even became use to not talking with her husband, so all communication between them was lost. Alan became so use to being invisible while in the room with someone that he decided to become invisible in real life in order to become visible.
It was Elle Woods in the movie Legally Blonde: Red, White and Blonde, who had the answer in the simplest of terms “Speak up.” She had a voice and she had to learn to use it to get noticed on Capitol Hill. Although this is one surefire remedy, it does not always work.
It is terrible to have to say this, but there are people out there who like to make others feel invisible. When you meet up with these types of people, you have to live with it. If the people are your family or friends, there is one surefire answer; you do not have to live it. You can choose not to be treated in that manner.
Whatever choice you make, you have to live it, but you always have a choice.
