In New York, it is illegal for blind people to drive. Compare that to Alabama, where it is illegal to drive while blindfolded.
Ladies beware in Memphis, Tennessee. If you want to drive there, a man must run or walk in front of the car while he is waving a red flag to warn other motorists and pedestrians. I know some women who think the opposite should be the case for male drivers and I know some men who think this Memphis law should be a part of the US Constitution.
Additionally, Tennessee made it illegal to drive while sleeping. That goes a long way toward explaining why the two speeds during rush hour are "dead slow" and "stop."
For those of you who have gotten a ticket for tinted windows or a noisy muffler, consider the following. Texas allows you to drive a car that does NOT have a windshield, but you MUST have windshield wipers. Illinois requires that automobiles be driven WITH steering wheels.
I am NOT a supporter of the government becoming overly involved in our daily lives. The idea for writing this article came from my desire to share a few humorous aspects of American life. After completing my research and thinking about it with twenty years of driving experience, I have come to the following conclusion.
I do not know what is more frightening, the fact that these laws were passed or the fact that actions of certain people made these laws necessary in the first place.
