If you've never taken a trip to Mexico it's a must. This year family vacation was to Playa De Carmen, Mexico. First there are a few things you have to watch out for while in Mexico. At the airport if you do not have a car to take you to your hotel walk outside and get a taxi. DO NOT listen to the con artist inside the airport lobby trying to sell you car service along with these fancy car service deals ( we learn later they are all gimmicks). However, we did not book the car service with the guys walking around in colorful shirts trying to bribe us but we did go to a window that was labeled Gray line taxi. They sold us a ticket for $95 USD for a $45 ride (we found out later).
Anyway, from Cancun airport it took us about an hour and fifteen minutes to arrive at our hotel the Sandos Playacar Beach Resort All-inclusive. This place was totally immaculate once in the lobby. It's designed in all marble or lots of leather couches around. Since we did our reading before hand on the hotel we knew just what to ask for. We asked for the 9000 area in which is the new area of the hotel. This is where the outside Jacuzzi and swim bar is located.
Arriving at our room we were so surprise on how polish the place look inside. We had a Jacuzzi bath along with a shower area which I loved. The mini fridge they provide was stacked with ice cold beers and soda for the kids. After a full overview of the room we quickly changed into our swimwear and hit the pool.
Since the place is on maybe a million acre of land the hotel provided a golf service to take you back and forth from one side to the other. This get annoy at night since everyone needs to go to dinner on the other side where the buffet style restaurants are located.
There are lot things we like about this hotel and few we do not. Here there are in no particular order:
- The lack of golf cart service at night for transportation
- There were people there trying to get us to sign up for travel membership worth 30k
- Do go out to the Famous 5th Avenue strip they have there. It only cost $5 USD to get there by taxi. Lunch is good there but pricey… Lunch for two at the Blue Lobster was $200USD. Yikes
- Do go to the SPA
- Do go to the Michael Jackson impersonator show
Its so much to do and see at this place that we looking to go back next year.
