Top Five Work Avoidance Behaviors

We all look around at work for something else, anything else, to be busy with than the actual task at hand, we simply don't have enough time. My goal is to help you realize you are avoiding doing work and not getting anything done effectively.

It is a scientific fact that most people have avoidance behaviors which they run to when real work shows up! It isn't that your lazy, it is that you just have the attention span of a newt which modern media forces most of us to have! I am going to list explain each of the most common for you so you can decide if you need to change your habits or not!

  1. Coffee. A drink of coffee is a necessity you say? Perhaps that is why you say you need to go get a cup of coffee 3 or 4 times before you even LOOK at the tasks at hand! Limit yourself to one cup at most a large size one as even actually drinking it is avoidance. I don't want to write this line I'll have a sip of coffee, bang 30 seconds wasted! How many sips do you think are in a cup of coffee eh? That's right a lot!
  2. Wandering. Just wandering around aimlessly or on a quest for something small and silly. For instance you go on a 2 hour search for more staples, when in fact you have no need of staples at all! You just need an excuse to get up and do absolutely nothing constructive!
  3. Smoking. Chances are if you smoke a pack a day you take smoke breaks at work! Well you just opened your computer after drinking your large coffee and going to get the paper (from the 1st floor of course which is 15 floors down) and you realize the craving kicked in when you opened the E-mail that says please complete before you go home. You had better go have a smoke so you can focus. Your kidding me!
  4. Chores. Usually something small simple and unimportant like dusting or changing the garbage can regularly! No one likes to change the garbage stop avoiding work just get it done then see how eager you are to do your chores!
  5. Confusion. Fake confusing is a common one that most people don't even know they do! You ask too many questions, make too many calls and generally waste time you don't have for things you don't need to know!
