Cats Have Us Trained More Than We Would Like to Admit

Do you believe that you have not been trained by your furry family member? If you answer "yes" to any of the following questions, you may have to rethink the situation.

Everyone who has ever had a cat knows that a cat is never truly "owned" but, rather, is simply with you because life is good there or 'something better' just hasn't come along yet. Unlike dogs, cats refuse to do tricks because they are not 'trainees'...they are 'trainers'! Do you believe that you have not been trained by your furry family member? Ha ha. Think again;

  1. Can't drink your coffee in peace in the morning until you feed the cat?
  2. No matter how bad you may have to 'go', do you still shuffle your feet in the dark because 'Fluffy' may be sleeping somewhere along the path to the john?
  3. When you buy an item that comes in a fairly large box, do you save the box for your feline's use and enjoyment?
  4. When you can't find your kitty, do you run the electric can opener in order to get him to come to you? (and then feel guilty for tricking him so you now open up another can of catfood?)
  5. Even though it's a cool day, do you still open That Window because your cat wants to sit on the sill and watch the birds, squirrels, and your neighbors across the street?
  6. Do you stop reading a book or using your laptop in order to pat your fuzzy friend who has been pawing at your arm since you got comfortable?
  7. After cooking your supper, do you save a little bit of beef or chicken for the cat? (If you make him a small plate of food, consider the possibility that your kitty is bragging about your 'trick' to other cats through That Window!)
  8. Do you make room for him on the bed?
  9. Do you hide yourself in the bathroom with the door closed in order to tie your shoes in peace?
  10. Do you look into those wide soul-searching eyes and know in your heart that you would die protecting your little friend?

Yup...you're trained!

Yes. . . yes . . . yes . . . and yes! My cats have me totally trained in the ways you describe. Incidentally I don't stop reading or computing to pet them - I have to stop because they're sitting right in my face on the book or computer keys!But I guess that's why I like cats - they do things their way and no-one else's - they do things their way or not at all!
