Bird in a Chinese Restaurant

A Chinese restaurant joke but not using the stereotypical use of racist language to enhance the humour.

There are probably thousands of jokes that have been told time and time again about the typical Chinese restaurant. Most of the time these are funny because the use of the Chinese accent is employed to help set up and add humor to the joke. While this is undeniably a funny way to set up the joke, it also seems to be a bit racist. So, I had to think of a way to make the joke funny, but also avoid using the stereotypical use of the accent to set the joke up, it wasn't easy.joke up. It wasn't easy.

I tried several different ways to accomplish this. I tried the use of different pronunciations of the Chinese food dishes but still the joke remained unfunny. Then I tried using different ethnicities of the customer purchasing the food. This was funnier but not the overall effect I was looking to obtain. After several attempts, I came up with this one. I hope you as readers like it.

A man walks into a Chinese restaurant and orders the number four special. While waiting for his food he decides to use the restroom. While waiting in the stall to do his business, a funny looking bird looks under and frightens him.

A little while later the same thing happens. Now, being more angry than frightened, he finishes and comes out to address this with the manager. There was a funny looking bird that kept looking under my stall in the restroom he explains. Do you know anything about that he asks? Why yes says the manager-that's just Harvey, my "Peking duck.
