My parents were out walking their dog, an incongruous and naked Yorkshire Terrier (from an animal rescue sanctuary) when they came across a buzzard feather, they often see a pair of buzzards circling above the woods near where they live.
Anyway they picked up the feather and took it home, for want of somewhere to put it, my mother stuck it in a potted African violet plant and thought no more about it.
My 4 year old daughter seemed fascinated by this, and every Wednesday and Sunday when we visited she would go straight over to the feather and study it.
After about three weeks, my daughter sidled up to me and said “Promise you won't tell grandma but that feather is never going to grow”
Don't you just love children !
