The Perfect Man

The man that all women are looking for.

Fred is the ideal man.

Fred is just a little taller than me at 5'9. I can wear my heels and be the same height as him or wear flats and he is a little taller. Either way I can look him in the eye.

He has the most incredible blue eyes, and is reasonably good looking too. Fred takes care over his appearance, and is always smart but he is not vain. Like me, he is quite capable of looking presentable without hogging the bathroom for hours on end! He has managed to achieve a balance so rarely found in men - the middle ground between wearing their underpants for three days at a time, and smelling more like a girl than I do.

His short dark hair is tidy but he does not spend hours gazing at it in the mirror. There is a little fuzz on his chest, but not too much, and no-one sees that but me. He never looks scruffy. I am always proud to be seen with him, and he will make a little more effort when it matters. On my birthday he always looks amazing. Of course all the other girls want him, but Fred only has eyes for me.

Fred has a pretty good job but is not a workaholic. In fact he helps me not to spend my whole time working. He earns roughly the same amount of money as me. He is an educated and intelligent man, with a science degree; he is my intellectual equal but we have different academic interests. He is interested in various things and is an interesting person to be with. He has his own strong opinions.

Fred has a great sense of humor. His jokes are actually funny, and not always centered around farts and toilets.

Fred likes to socialize, and enjoys music, but he is neither an alcoholic nor a heavy metal fan. He gets on well with my friends and with people in general. He is nice, and he is completely trustworthy. I know that Fred would never cheat on me.

He treats me really well. He is not patronizing or mean. We do things together that we both enjoy, and both take an active and supportive interest in each other's lives. At the same time we both have our own space and each stay in touch with our own friends. I can talk to Fred about absolutely anything and always feel better for having done so. He never derides my opinion and I know he is proud of my achievements, as I am of his. Fred encourages me in everything I do.

Fred remembers my birthday and Valentine's Day, and always surprises me in a really thoughtful way. Our presents to each other are not about how much money is spent; they are truly thoughtful gifts which show how well we understand each other. Once, he threw me a surprise party, and invited exactly the right people. Now and again, he buys me flowers, because Fred knows that under my hard exterior there is a woman who really wants someone to love her.

Fred is not part of my life at the moment and probably doesn't exist. I have met a couple of men who have seemed to be like this; unfortunately they were not.

But I am still looking. He is out there somewhere.

don't hold your breath. the only thing you have to worry about is: if you find a man like this, will you deserve him? and will you give the same to him? sure, fred may be perfect on paper, but he is probably not perfect for you.
