The State of Race in American Politics

On America having a Black President.

I will start with Blanche Bruce in 1880 being a man with African blood, was the first of his kind to get votes at the Democratic Convention from a major party for Vice-Presidency. Mr. Bruce the next year was appointed Secretary of the Treasury; this position is just as high in government as Collin Powell or Condoleezza Rice today.

127 years ago Mr. Bruce was putting his signature on the dollar bill. Reverend Rice instilled in his daughter and students that black people would have to prove themselves worthy of advancement, and would simply have to be "twice as good" to overcome injustices built into the system. A message from the father of the highest ranking Black Woman in United States Government.

Today we have a lot of Americans poorly educated in American history. Most of us have been taught the history that glorifies the America that has been hurting us, not helping us.

For starters the difference between African American history and American history, none. There is just one American history. In this history there are many wrong doings too many people, one group was African Americans, and these wrong doings are not admitted, so how can they be dealt with?

I am talking about simple things like promoting the first Patriot, the first martyr for America, Crispus Attucks. To the more complex like dealing with issues of chattel slavery and other such historical acts which created The Black Holocaust. Historical acts

which created the Underground Railroad during The American Revolution, and lasted thru The Civil War. The American Revolution that was started by a man with African blood for the plight of freedom and managed to drive people with African blood to leave this nation.

Today we see in America people with African blood working twice as hard, to do twice as good as those without pigment and curly hair, to prove there value to this nation.

This value you can see in the many Americans with African blood, from Quincy Jones,

to Oprah Winfrey, to Robert L. Johnson, to Barack Obama. Mr. Obama is just a man with a personal and professional record better than any President we ever had, while trying to prove to America that he is just as worthy as any of the men who have graced the title of American President.

So from 1880 to 2008 people with African blood have been working twice as hard to get the same positions as people without. So hopefully this states the case of race in the United States government.
