10 Freak Car Accidents

A car accident can be one of the most horrifying experiences in a person’s life. They are sometimes inevitable and the moments before they happen with the feeling of helplessness can be very terrifying. However some of these accidents are just a one in a million freak accident, or not to sound like a jerk but staged accidents. Here are ten of the weirdest car accidents you will ever see.

  1. A giant Nike soccer ball has fallen on top of a car. How weird is that? The ball was obviously a prop on top of this store because how else would a ball get on a car. It may have rolled off the roof of “Nooddi” onto the car. Imagine coming out of a store after shopping to have a giant soccer ball with a diameter of about ten feet smashed into the top of your car.

  2. How does a car appear to be coming inward on a guard rail from the outside of it? This must have been one amazing car jump. The fact that the guard rail is bent with the car leads me to believe it is truly not staged, but the angle the car is positioned leaves me wondering how in the world it got like that. I'll bet the driver is thankful it didn't topple over the guardrail completely. Now I know why the government spends our taxes on guardrails.

  3. What did this car even crash into? I have a feeling this is the back of a semi truck as it appears to be the top part, and scattered around would be the metal product he was transferring. It is a little odd that the car seems mostly undamaged except for a slightly bent hood. This makes me wonder how the silver material was spread so drastically unless it was from the result of the cabin falling of the trailer. Staged or freak accident?

  4. Seeing a car crashed in a garage or house is one thing, but for it to be crashed on top of another car. This is just completely amazing. Honestly how could you even drive a truck on top of this car inside a garage without being highly intoxicated or staging it? I see no way for this to be a natural crash, you decide.

  5. Ouch, the car splits in half when hitting a metal railroad crossing pole. It's truly a sad accident that appears as though it could have been deadly. Unless it was a purposeful accident I'm undecided upon how you could achieve this. The speed had to have exceeded sixty miles per hour meaning this was on a highway or a similar road of higher speeds without a guardrail. The only thing is, if you examine the picture it appears as though it is crashing inward. The front and back of the car are pointed at what we would assume to have been the road. A car that breaks in half doesn't break and have the ends pointing the way in come from. Imagine a cracker with the two sides when you snap it the sides go away from where the force that broke it was. The break goes away from you the ends come towards you. The way the car is lined up has it the force and sides coming towards us.

  6. How does that work? A cars wheel gets caught in not one but three telephone wires. The wires are about three feet apart so the car had to have been launched to the highest one and fallen straight down catching all three. Your power goes out; you call the power company, “What happened to our power?” They reply, “A car is hanging vertically off of three wires causing the power outage.”

  7. This was on the channel nine news, which leads me to believe that this actually did happen. As to how I am unsure. There is a car parked next to these from the direction the car came and it is undamaged. The car had to have come from that direction at a high speed to achieve the height to get leverage on the truck to tip it. I don't know about you but if I saw this no matter how full the lot I'm not parking there.

  8. Lady those white things you can see behind you, you park behind those. A small amount of damage is done to the front of the car appearing as though she hit the stopper before going over. No real damage is done to the car so this could easily have been prepared; I mean there is a small risk for actual damage. This doesn't look like a true accident but nonetheless it is a one in a million.

  9. So car one stops and car three rams car two into it leading it to go upright. Obvious damage to the bumper of car two so that much is clear. As to how the car stayed like this long enough for the fireman and cameras to arrive I do not know. I would really hate to have been stuck upright like this. Scary getting out because if you move too much it might fall and crush you!

  10. Well my best guess is, the semi decided to backup. The front of the red car is at least partially under the trucks wheels. A cars wheel go forward on top, backwards on bottom which would have prevented the car from getting under the wheels if it were going forward. Nevertheless it would be a very scary situation, and I hope that it is staged because the entire front of the car is crush.

All the views written about these articles are simply to evaluate how I think they happened. It may seem insensitive to assume some of these are staged, but personally I truly believe some of these would be next to impossible to achieve unless we are missing something in the picture. My best of wishes to the drivers involved in these, and any other car accident for that matter because the feeling of having no control of a fast moving car is about the worst feeling you can get.

Amazing, aren't they. You wonder how on earth the cars manage to get where they end up. I've seen a couple of really strange car accidents in my time, one where a car bounced over a fence and into the only empty parking space in a car park and another where it flew up into a house.

I should add that no-one was injured in either of the accidents I mentioned before.

The car draped around the railroad crossing sign is in Missouri on I-55. I've passed it many times... it serves as a warning to motorists not to play with trains and railroad tracks...
The corvette buried under the truck trailer happened because the truck stopped and the corvette didn't. I've been a professional truck driver for 22 years and have seen it all too many times.
That's why you NEVER EVER want to tailgate a semi, folks...your car will go right up under the trailer decapitating you and all occupants.
That happened to one of my cousins when he and his buddies were 18 and drunk. They were all decapitated. Terry was married and the father of two. His unborn child never knew him.
Great article, Jared!

That would make sense. I was wondering how a nike ball would land on a car.

Thanks for clearing up what happened with the semi. I've learned to not follow behind them, rather switch lanes, and get up ahead of them as to not be next to them either. Did the mashed car get hit by a train too?

the first image with the nike soccer ball on the car is a STAGED event, not a crash. It was a part of a commercial for Nike. The giant ball is actually fairly light-weight, it is NOT a giant marble, after all it has been on the roof, remember.
So its a "fake" to get attention, and it obviusly works.
The location is said to be outside nooddi in siam square, bangkok.

We've arrived at this conclusion already, however the additional information was appreciated. I didn't know for sure it was a staged event, as I had no knowledge of this. However is does catch attention.

Comments on a few of these:

2. The tilt of the camera makes this look more far-fetched than it is. The car is probably front-wheel drive and quite nose-heavy without a load in the trunk. Note also that the car is significantly pointed toward the camera, so more of it is supported than at first appears.

3. That's a 48- or 53-foot box trailer that used to be coupled to a semi-tractor.

4. Poor, poor Ferrari. :-(

6. This happened in/near Houston (as one can tell by the Metro sign). A Ford Contour left the roadway, ran up a guy wire for a utility pole, and managed to get hung up on the telephone wires.

10. The Corvette (red car) collided with the rear of the semi at high speed while the latter was stopped on the shoulder of an interstate. If the semi simply backed up into the stopped Corvette, there may be some soiled shorts, but the 'Vette would NOT underride the trailer to this extent.

i bore witness to a strange accident myself. it was during a motorcycle riding course at a local harley-davidson dealer. the setup of the lot goes like this: the dealership is at the end of a short stretch of road. the drive to get into the dealership is the last left. the drive itself is maybe 500 feet from the road to the parking lot. the 500 feet is because of a pond that is on the right hand side of the drive and to the left is where they have the road course set up behind a chain link fence to block it from being part of the parking lot. and on a busy spring day people park to the right side of the drive when the parking lot if full. (sorry i cant draw a map, hope you kept up)

ok so we were on the road course learning swerving with a quick stop at the end (basically accident evading which makes this ironic as well). this girl who wasnt doing the greatest so far was up next she took off, made her swerve, but didn't stop. no, in fact, she was able to manage to drive up the chain link fence like a ramp she somehow made the hop from the fence without falling (which by that time was maybe only 2-3 feet above the ground) across the drive, between 2 parked cars without hitting them and straight into the pond! needless to say ALL of us, including the riding instructors were like WTF!? and no, thankfully she didnt get her riders endorsement, in fact when it was determined that she was ok, she was excused from the class.

personally, it was one of the finest shows of riding ability outside of any stunt show ive seen.

The accident with the vette was real. The owner of the car lived in Irvington, NY. The saftey bar that would prevent a car from going under the trailer was missing. I've seen better pics of the accident and there is blood on the back of the trailer.

I like the article, but leave it to someone who doesn't know...to think that something is staged or not. I have been a professional driver for 9 years, and I have seen my share of accidents.

The first one could be staged. But as for the rest, almost every situation under the sun could have created these pictures. Most are man made (driver error) but some are definitely weather related.

Something very similar to #10 happened to a friend of mine about 30 years ago. He was driving a small sports car and went right under a transport truck. He sustained a severe head injury and is slightly brain damaged. Wet pavement, the truck stopping too fast and him tailgating were the reasons. He was one of the lucky ones.

the last picture was real. the driver fell asleep and the corvette crashed into the rear of the semi and the driver died instantly. it is actually kinda sad
