I will never forget the beauty of the desert and the kaleidoscope of color when one looks upon the blossoms of the many flowering plants. I have seen many forms of life here on the desert; landscapes, plants, trees, mountains and a wide array of birds.
These are a few of my favourite feathered friends and they have brought me countless hours of entertainment. One of my most favourite birds is the Quail.

This bird likes to run along the top of the brick privacy wall that surrounds the homes where I live. It's quite the comedian at times and as the feather moves from the bobbing of its head it chases the others birds away from the feeder on the ground.
Another great bird that I have come to love is the Humming bird; I spend sometimes many hours to get that perfect picture with my camera.
I have found there to be several different types here in the dessert as well. They love the hummingbird feeder and the many flowering blossoms on the plants and shrubs around my home.

This is truly a rare bird here in Arizona as it is not common to this desert area. Though we have many back home that come to visit in Northern Ontario, I was still very surprised to learn that they could be found here.
Some of my favourite birds of prey are the Eagle as seen below.

These are an awesome site each and every time I see them; they remind me that I too am always close to Creator. So I know in my heart that no matter where I go, Grandfather watches over me. They often circle high above the cliffs in the sky and if I listen I can hear them call to me on the breathe of Spirit some call the wind.
The Great Spirit often sends a Hawk to visit me and I have come to know and respect Grandfather's messenger. The hawk is seen by many that visit and live here in the desert of Arizona.
Sometimes I have seen them hunt in groups and I have learned many great hunting skills from observing them as well.

They are very fast and also gifted hunters.
One of my most favourite birds is also called the Roadrunner. It really can live up to its name.

Great Blue Heron is another eye catcher and well worth the looking at and picture taking.

This large bird is called the Turkey Vulture it's a scavenger bird of the desert and I have seen it as far north as Northern Ontario Canada.

The common Raven is also found here in the desert of Arizona and it holds much mysticism around it and it always reminds me of its ability to copy and take on many forms. While growing up I was taught many things about the Raven and by observing it I have learned many lessons.
