These are the coolest world records, associated with the expense of many of items, which exist. These World Records include the world’s most expensive: human skull, very skimpy diamond bikini (with model), perfume bottle, mushroom, painting, cell phone, license plate, palace, sundae, and Ferrari.
This is the Emirates Palace 7-star “hotel”. Its building cost has not been disclosed but is estimated to be as much as much as 4 billion dollars. Located in Abu Dhabi this luxurious palace has pairs of 61'' plasma TVs, along with touch screen room controls, personal butlers, and Jacuzzis in every room. An imported Australian sand beach, 1 mile in length, makes up the palace's beachfront. Golden ceilings cover the palace and are adorned with over 1000 Swarovski crystal chandeliers. The palace contains many world record breaking enormous structures, such as the Grand Atrium dome, one of 114 in the palace, larger than that of Saint Peter's Basilica. Over 1000 staff members are required to operate the hotel, which is not surprising seeing as it also boasts 1 million square feet of imported marble; the start of which is the Emirates Palace Archway, made of Italian stone, and larger than the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Outside the marble palace, its 600 acres of exotic park grounds are covered in over 8,000 trees and 200 fountains. The palace's private heliport is active outdoors as well. In the hotel over 20,000 roses are used daily throughout the hotel and its grounds; in all 20 restaurants, and in both the spas and both outdoor luxury pools as well.
This painting, “No. 5”, 1948 by Jackson Pollock was reportedly sold for $150,000,000, after the inflation adjustment, to David Martinez, the managing partner of Fintech Advisory Ltd, in a private sale by David Geffen, founder of Geffen Records and co-founder of Dreamworks SKG. The sale was, however, never confirmed by either party. Also note that this is the most expensive painting sold and that the Mona Lisa is still the most expensive in terms of insurance (at over half a billion dollars).
This diamond encrusted pure platinum skull (2156 grams of platinum in 32 individual plates, welded together by lasers) was created by Damien Hurst. Costing $98,000,000 to make, this extraordinary piece of art, entitled, “For the Love of God”. The skull is covered inside and out in 8,601 sparkling diamonds and has a main stone that is a 52-carat pear-shaped diamond fixed upon its forehead, this stone is further bordered with 14 additional diamonds. The creation of the piece took 18 months of work by Bentley & Skinner and it is the largest diamond piece commissioned since the Crown Jewels. A real skull was used as the form for this contemporary piece of art.
This $30 million bikini was been created by Susan Rosen with Steinmetz Diamonds. No fabric was used; it is made purely of set diamonds. Very beautiful isn't it? This model was posing for the 2006 centerfold of Sports Illustrated.
This license plate, “Number 1” was sold to Saeed Abdul Ghafour Khouri, a business man, for 14.3 million dollars. He purchased this plate at an auction in the world-famous the 7-star Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, making it the world's most expensive license plate.
This 1961 Ferrari California Spyder (formerly owned by actor James Coburn) sold, at an auction, for $11,000,000, as the result of an “I gotta have it” impulse buy by Chris Evans, a popular British radio host.
This phone, created by GoldVish, was correctly named “Le Million”. Costing a pricy 1.2 million this phone is made of 18-carat white gold and mounted with 120-carats of extremely fine diamonds. If you had a million dollars… would you spend it all on a phone?
This is a 1.5 kilogram truffle, found 2.5 feet underground in Italy, which sold at a charity auction for $216,000. It is the biggest white truffle ever found. Its predecessor was a 750 gram truffle which sold for $210,000. This expensive delicacy may be eaten raw or as an additive in dishes ranging from soups to steaks.
This is a 500 ml bottle of the Imperial Majesty version of a fragrance called No. 1. The price of these 500 ml is $215,000 the bottle itself is Baccarat crystal, with an 18 carat gold ring around the rim, with a 5-carat diamond inset in it. This is a very unique perfume seeing as only 10 bottles of it have been made and they are delivered to their extravagant purchasers in a signature Bentley automobile. Cheaper versions of this perfume are available in smaller amounts, with less exotic ingredients, and in lesser concentrated versions.
This is a picture of a $25,000 dessert named “Frrozen Haute Chocolate” served at a restaurant called Serendipity 3 in New York City. This dessert is made of 28 types of cocoa, including 14 of the most expensive and exotic types flown in from around the world, milk, five grams of 24 carat gold, whipped cream, and shaved truffle pieces of La Madeline au Truffle from Knipschildt Chocolatier (valued $2,600 a pound). It is served in a diamond goblet laced with additional edible gold, and over a carat of diamonds. A golden spoon with encrusted diamonds is given to eat with. Both of these dining utensils are for the hungry, and wealthy, consumer to keep as the world's most expensive souvenirs of the experience. Recently this restaurant was shut down because of many failed health inspections including an inspector who claimed to have found a live mouse, mouse droppings, flies, and over 100 live cockroaches within it.
