Humans are, by nature, omnivores. We'll eat almost anything you put on our plate. But there is a point where not even starvation can make you eat some things. Here are those things which people in the world actually enjoy as delicacies. Hold on to your stomachs for this one.
Escamoles

From: Mexico
What is it? Escamoles are nothing more than the eggs of the giant and black Liometopum ant, home to the root systems of maguey and agave plants. Despite their obviously low pay, the collectors of the eggs should receive hazard pay. This is because the ants are extremely venomous, even deadly. Escamoles have a buttery and nutty taste. Mmmm! Casu Marzu

From: Sardinia, Italy
What is it? Casu Marzu is goat's milk cheese, which has been allowed to be invested by the Piophila casei, also known as the “cheese fly”. It is a large chunk of maggot-ridden, stinky, decomposing cheese. The translucent larvae in this tasty treat can jump 6 inches into the air! So while eating this one, wear your safety glasses! As a side note, this should set a big red flag off to not eat this. It's illegal in the only place it's eaten. Interesting… Lutefisk

From: Norway
What is it? After the previous two, it's good to finally have a nice recipe from Norway that's clean. But it's almost too clean. Lutefisk is a Norwegian dish made up of cod that has been steeped for many days in lye, until its flesh is caustic enough to dissolve silver cutlery. And you thought you couldn't eat spicy food… Baby Mice Wine

From: Korea
What is it? Well, I mean the name says it all. This is an Oriental “health tonic”, which from what I have read tastes like raw gasoline. Baby mice are taken from their mothers and literally dropped into rice wine, alive, until they die and the wine ferments. Pacha

From: Iraq
What is it? Well this one is simple, and some eaters like simplicity. Merely a boiled sheep's head. The head is literally cut off; the bleeding stopped, and then put right into a boiling pot of water. What could taste better? Balut

From: The Philippines
What is it? Balut are duck eggs that are allowed to be incubated until the fetus grows wings, and a beak, and bones too. They are then boiled alive. It's really nice how the bones give a great crunchy texture. They are enjoyed in Cambodia, the Philippines, and the seventh level of hell. These are sold by street vendors at night, out of buckets of sand and the balut.
Well, after reading about these delicious foods, I'm sure you're getting hungry. So go into your kitchen, or go out to eat, and just remember: If these are popular in other countries, then what could be in the food in your country?
