Nature has so much beauty to offer. Through the years, bizarre rock formations have been formed though weathering and erosion. Here are some of the most notable rock formations from around the world.

Serpent of Stone

This peculiar and partially submerged rock formation is located in Willamette River, a tributary of Columbia River in Oregon, USA. It resembles a swimming serpent.

Weathered Rocks and Erosion 299 Yeliou

If Australia and Arizona, USA have “wave rocks”, Taiwan also has its own similar version of the said geological formations. The Northeast coast of Taiwan is unique and rugged and contains strange rock formations which are unusual and appealing. 

Pancake Rock

Feeling hungry? Well, I'm so sorry but these are not edible. These unique rock formations were limestone that melts into these peculiar shapes. 

These rock formations that resemble pancakes are located in New Zealand.

Three Stooges

The Three Stooges are bizarre rock formations that can be found in Goblin Valley. They were named after the Three Stooges, who were an American vaudeville and comedy act of the early to mid -20th century best known for their numerous short subject films. Goblin Valley is located in Utah, USA.

Rock Formation in Matsushima Bay

If you have the chance to visit the “land of the rising sun”, include in your list Matsushima Bay and you will see many unique rock formations, one of which is the rock formation above which has a peculiar shape.

Fantasy Canyon Formation

Fantasy Canyon formation is one of the unique and fragile formations in Fantasy Canyon located in Utah in the Uinta Basin Natural Gas fields.

When you visit the place, bring lots of water because according to people who have been there, the climate is seriously hot.

1,000 Turtle Mounts

At the peak of 1,000 Turtle Mount, the sandstone rock formations look like turtle shells. These unique sandstone formations are gradually being worn away by tourist's feet. 

Uluru Water Ruts

A visit in Australia is incomplete without seeing the Ayers Rock or locally known as Uluru. Water over the centuries has carved its own unique path into Uluru making its scenery more breathtaking especially when viewed up close.

These rock formations have been sculpted over the millennia by the wind and sand on Kangaroo Island South Australia.

Norbert, I would love you to check out the Wall of China formation at Lake Mungo ( Google LAKE MUNGO ) in NSW...it also hold's the world's OLDEST civilisation. That's right, the world's oldest civilisation started in this place.
