I guess the best way to start this Article is to say first and foremost I'm Canadian. I've been around for quite awhile, and in my journeys, I've found that a lot of American's know nothing about Canada, and we Canadians know a lot about the States.
If there is one thing to be said about Canada, is that it's a beautiful place to visit, but if you don't like the cold, don't come here in the winter. We have ten Provinces. The furthest one West, is cold and rainy during the Winter months and the furthest one East has more snow than anyone could possibly want, and it's cold there, very cold. For the benefit of you the reader, I will keep everything in Fahrenheit, but Canada is on the Metric system of measure, in case you didn't know.
In British Columbia the furthest Western Province there are the Rocky Mountains and below in the valleys it does snow, but not a lot. Mostly during our winter months in this Province it rains or snows lightly, either way it's a real mess, but in British Columbia in the summer, it's just beautiful.
We have Three Western Provinces. They are Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. For the most part these Provinces are our farming Provinces. Wheat used to be the main product grown on the Parries, but now it's Canola Plants. These plants are a far better crop than Wheat as this plant gives off canola oils which are used the world over, giving the farmers who grow these plants, a better perspective of the money market. Unlike the United States in their mid western States, we don't have the same type of weather. In the mid Western States, they have tornados. We may have bad weather, but it's usually rain and or strong winds and a farmer's worst nightmare, droughts. No rain at all and that causes Canadian farmers to loose their crops, which many of them depend on for their livings. In Alberta, there is Oil. Probably one of the largest oil drilling lands in Canada. I believe the last time I read anything on Alberta's oil was that we supply much of the demand from the United States. Canada is a rich country in Water, Oil, Electricity and Wood.
In conversation with one of the Writers from Triond, I found out that while we both have fish in our rivers and lakes, we Canadians don't have the same types of fish. In some Provinces some types of fish can be found, and other Provinces have their own types of fish, too numerous to mention here. Canadians who live near the ocean probably have the biggest selections of fish. Lobsters are probably what most people know of, no matter where you live and the thought of Lobster, makes my mouth water when I think of one of them being cooked on my stove.
We leave the Prairie Provinces and head into Ontario. Ontario is most famous for the CN Tower, which is over 1776, and a great Tourist Attraction every year. They also have Marine Land, which is something like America's average Tourist traps with Roller Coasters and fun things for children, including a large Aquarium of fish.
Ontario is also where our Prime Minster lives. Actually, all decision making for all of Canada is done in Ottawa, the Provinces Capitol. We are on the same level when it comes to elections, each four years depending on whether the leader at the time has a majority Government. If not, and one of the other parties makes a motion to topple the governing party, then we go back to the polls to elect the same person or another, one which-ever way it works out. Unlike the United States, most Canadians don't have much faith in our Political Parties, as they are full of promises before they get elected, and when they are elected, they seem to slip into comas, and can't remember their promises.
Now we move further East into Quebec. Quebec is mostly French, but there are a lot of English speaking people living here as well. If you are looking for good French Culture and good French meals, you are in the right place in Quebec. Quebec is also rich in minerals and water. Our Hydro outlets supply much of the Electricity that New York uses. More so, when Maine has electricity problems they call on our Electrical crews, to help them resolve their problems. One of the biggest problems in Quebec is our drivers, who are completely nuts, on our roads. I once read that if someone can drive in Quebec, they can drive anywhere in the world. These days, a lot of Movies are being shot in Quebec, Hollywood type movies at that. We are growing in many ways having probably the most up to date movie equipment available anywhere in North America. The movie business has created a lot of jobs in Quebec, and hopefully will continue to do so.
