Quotes can mean so many things. They can be humorous, cheer us up when we're feeling down. They can be inspiring, pushing us to achieve things we never thought possible. Sometimes, the speeches that these quotes come from can push us to achieve things we never thought possible.
An inspiring speech can be the difference between winning and losing, defeat and victory. With all this in mind, I've decided to write a small appendix of great historical quotes, some inspiring, some philosophical, but all incredibly important to the lives we lead today, and with that in mind, here they are, 10 of the greatest historical quotes of all time:
- “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.” - Winston Churchill, on the Battle of Britain
- “Remember that time is money” - Benjamin Franklin, 1748
- “Non-violence is the first article of my faith. It is also the last article of my creed” - Mahatma Gandhi
- “I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones” - Albert Einstein
- "Veni, Vidi, Vici" - (I came, I saw, I conquered) - Julius Caesar
- "Cogito, ergo sum." - (I think, therefore I am.) - René Descartes
- "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." - Sir Isaac Newton
- "Man was born free, and everywhere he is in chains." - Jean-Jacques Rousseau
- “The day of small nations has long since passed. The day of Empires has come” - Joseph Chamberlain
- "Politics is war without bloodshed while war is politics with bloodshed." - Mao Tse-Tung
if you seek peace, prepare for war
this is probably another one.
