Electoral College Quiz 1948-2004

Our president is not elected by the popular vote, but rather by the Electoral College. I have ten questions, one from each of the last ten presidential elections. Enjoy.

I have previously given you Part 1 of the Electoral College Quiz

I have had plenty of people look at it, but no one has been brave enough to take a shot and guess the answers. I am thinking now, maybe I should work backwards and start with the ten questions from 1948-2004. Here they are. Please post your answers at the comments. I will let you know if you are right or wrong and I will give hints if you need them. Good luck.

1948- For only the second time in history at the time, a candidate, Harry Truman won despite losing what two states (hint: George W. Bush lost these states both times and still won, same case with Nixon in 1968)

1952- How many Confederate states was Eisenhower able to win, a very large number for a Republican at the time?

1960- What two states was there accused voter fraud which if true would have shifted the election from Kennedy to Nixon?

1964- Why did the electoral college go from 537 to 538 from the election of 1960?

1968- George Wallace was the last third party candidate to do what this year?

1972- What was the only state that George McGovern carried in this Nixon landslide?

1984- What was the only state Ronald Reagan did not win in his landslide victory for re-election?

1988-Prior to George H.W. Bush, who was the last sitting Vice-President to be elected President?

2000- This did not go far, but it was said that Richard Cheney, the vice-presidential candidate was from Texas, and not Wyoming. Why would this have been an issue if he were from Texas?

2004-What was the only state that George Bush lost that he won in 2000?
