The Early Dynastic Period of Ancient Egypt

There are not many historical records covering this period.

Records begin with the unification of Lower and Upper Egypt at around 3150BC. It has been said that the first Pharaoh of Egypt, Menes, was responsible for the unification of the two lands but later discoveries have proved the first Pharaoh of Egypt was Narmer.

At this time, Egyptian culture was closely tied to religious Gods of the time. Art, architecture and their social structure related to Egyptian deities. The Egyptian regal (chronology) years had commenced in this period of time, with Pharaohs establishing a royal administration and appointing imperial governors.

The early dynastic period was the structural beginning of burial structures and tombs and became the insight for the construction of the step pyramid.
