The Most Poisonous Creatures of the World 1

These are the most poisonous creatures on the Earth.

Of all the animal species on the Earth, there are some creatures which may killpeople in only minutes. They may kill if you disturb them somehow because they have the most strongest poison ever in their bodies. Here is the most well-known and poisonous examples of those animals.

Dort Poison Frog

I was stunned when I first heard that a frog is the most poisonous creature of all times. This poisonous frog lives in the rain forests of Colombia. In zoology, it is known as phyllobates terribilis. It is very tiny and only 2 cm. It's poison can kill 150 people or 30000 mice at the same time. It's whole body is covered with a poison layer.

Blue Ringed Octopus

The second most poisonous one living on the Earth. It's poison kills any creature in only 2 minutes. The natural habitat of this octopus species is Japan. According to scientists and zoologists, it's poison is as 10000 times lethal as cyanide.

Box Jelly Fish

This is the third in the top list of most poisonous creatures. It lives in Pacific Ocean. It has 3 m tentacles around it. If you somehow touch it, this means that you live the last 5 minutes of your life.

Inland Taipan

It belongs to Elapidae family in zoology. The most dangerous snake species. Natural habitat of this snake is Australia continent. Three important species of Taipan is Oxyuranus scutellatus, Oxyuranus microlepidotus and Oxyuranus temporalis. It's poison is 100 times more potent than cobra and 50 times more lethal than black mamba. It's poison can kill 100 people at the same time.

Death Stalker

Death stalker lives in Middle East countries. It is known as yellow scorpion. It's 1mg poison can kill 15000 mice. It's poison can kill a person in only one hour after being bitten.

Good photo. Brave photographer!

One criticism: scorpions STING to kill or stun a victim/enemy.

Thanks for the frog photos, too!

What about the blow fish? It has Tetrodotoxin it is an exceptionally lethal poison. Tetrodotoxin is approximately 1,200 times deadlier than cyanide. In animal studies with mice, 8 μg tetrodotoxin per kilogram of body weight killed 50% of the mice. It is estimated that a single puffer has enough poison to kill 30 adult humans. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blow_fish Puffer Fish are the second most poisonous vertebrate in the world, the first being a Golden Poison Frog. The skin and certain internal organs of many Tetraodontidae are highly toxic to humans, but nevertheless the meat of some species is considered a delicacy in both Japan (as fugu) and Korea (as bok-uh). If one is caught while fishing, it is recommended that thick gloves are worn to avoid poisoning and getting bitten when removing the hook.

The Tetraodontidae contains at least 121 species of puffers in 19 genera.[1] They are most diverse in the tropics and relatively uncommon in the temperate zone and completely absent from cold waters. Pufferfish are mostly found in coastal regions though some are oceanic (e.g., Lagocephalus lagocephalus) or live in the deep sea (e.g., Sphoeroides pachygaster). A large number of puffers are found in brackish and fresh waters: at least 39 marine species enter brackish or freshwater to feed or breed (e.g., Arothron hispidus), and a further 28 species are completely freshwater fish in distribution and never enter the sea (e.g., Colomesus asellus).[2]

The Blue Ringed Octopus can be found in Australian waters as well. The Box Jellyfish can be found in most tropical oceans. Mangroves are the Box Jellyfish's nurseries. Practice your first aid before you go into dangerous areas.

err... about that scorpion, is it really the bite that is venomous, or is it the stinger?

The dart frog can kill 10-20 people and 10000 mice, as for the octopus - 26, so that already puts it above. Also, the victim of the octopus does not die in 2 minutes, though may appear that way because they cannot breathe or move. Some pressure on the would, artificial respiration, and you have a good chance to survive. The next one is my favourite, because it\'s actually the most poisonous, although not all species of the box jellyfish actually have poison. The snake is almost all right on, except that it is 200-400 times more poison than cobras. And finally, the death stalker also lives in North Africa and not likely to kill a healthy adult human, though may cause various diseases that will kill you later. Hope I didn\'t come off too pretentious and don\'t believe everything you read on the internet!

Hmm, I've seen 3 out of 5. Blue Ringed Octopus, Box Jellyfish and the Inland Taipan. It was funny at the time that I saw the Blue Ringed Octopus because I was with an aquatics camp instructor, who said that they never seen one in her life and that you would most likely never see one in the area but then one came floating along..

brave attempt but not really well researched. for example box jelly fish is only leathal in a small amoutn of stings and that only in the very young or very old and when left untreated. Ditto blue ring octopus that does live in Australian waters as well...

Bad research. Besides the observations before mine, on the very first one about phyllobates terribilis even the picture is wrong. Terribilis is entirely bright yellow, the one pictured isn't even a subspecies, it's an entirely different one.

Just look at his terrible grammar and that alone makes me not want to believe what is written. If you want people to believe the things that you write are supposed to be well researched and intelligent then at least use good grammar when presenting them.

Pretty pictures but I'd like to point out that the toxins are what make these guys deadly, so a little detail on the kind of toxin would be nice. Blue ringed octopus is tetrodotoxin (TTX), same as puffer fish and a few other species. The toxin is actually created by symbiotic bacteria. The frog secretes concentrated toxins from the plants it eats. Later generation frogs sold in the U.S. as pets are harmless. Death stalker is a combination of mostly neurotoxins, including one that shows promise in curing brain tumors.

issue 1: this is a list of venomous animals, not poisonous animals
issue 2: as many of the previous posters have mentioned, many of the facts are wrong
issue 3: even if the facts were correct, the animals here are not the most venomous. they are quite deadly, but, for example, the stone fish is significantly more inimical to humans than these animals

There are no vegetarian frogs ,sorry maybe the author of this page isnt the only one who needs to do more research and if you believe later generations have no toxin, lick one and we will be reading about you in the obituaries.

One is not bitten by a Death Stalker, one is stunk.
I have been stung by other scorpions, and trust me
it feel like a razor, and then you start to swell
and go numb.

YOu have to get some antihistimine real fast, and
you'll be okay.

Spelling and grammar check would help you greatly. Anyhow, the box jellyfish nematocytes can be neutralized with acetic acid - found in vinegar. The person will already have been exposed of course, but this prevents further stings by tentacles still stuck to the body.

Why is it that all of these top ten (or five) lists on the net start with number one? It's supposed to be a countdown. If you show me the most venomous animal on the very top of the page, I'm not particularly excited about looking at the rest of them - "Hmm, now that I now what the most venomous animal is, I'm dying to find out what a less deadly animal is!"
