The world's most well-known mountain, Mount Everest, is also the highest with a height of 8,848 metres (29,029 feet) above sea level. Located in the Himalaya range, Mt. Everest was first climbed and conquered on May 23, 1956. Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay of Nepal completed the grueling ascent after less than two days. It is the first natural wonder due to its supreme beauty and serenity.

Victoria Falls located between Zambia and Zimbabwe is the world's largest waterfall. Although it is neither the highest nor the widest waterfall in the world, it is still considered the largest due to its 108 metres (360 ft) height and a width of 1.7 kilometers (1 mi). The falls contain some of the most diverse wildlife in Africa.

The Grand Canyon in Arizona is a deep gorge carved out by the Colorado River. It's contained within the Grand Canyon National Park, one of the first of its kind in the United States. It is believed that the canyon has been forming for nearly 17 million years. The canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles (6.4 to 29 km) and attains a depth of more than a mile (1.6 km).

The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef. The reef is 2,600 kilometres (1,600 mi) long, consisting of over 900 islands. The reef is one of the most obvious images from space and is the largest single structure made from living things. It is also a nation park of Australia and protected under conservation law.

The Northern Lights are truly a wonder. They are known in the scientific community as the Aurora Borealis. This occurrence can be seen most often between September and October and March and April. The strange lights occur due to the magnetic field of the Earth and the sun's flares causing a distortion of light, which is held in the atmosphere.
Paricutin Volcano in Mexico

The Paricutin Volcano originated as a fissure in a Mexican farmer's cornfield. The man was out tending to his field in 1943 when the fissure began forming and lava spewed out. Today the volcano stands at 3,170 metres (10,400 ft) high, due only to the pyroclastic flow beginning on that day in 1943. It last erupted in 1952.

The harbor in Rio de Janeiro is a pure piece of nature's beauty. The beauty is enhanced by the coastal mountains and standing tall is a famous statue of Christ the Redeemer.
When we take the time to look at it, nature can just wow us time and time again. While the Seven Wonders of the World built by man are spectacular, nothing can replace the perfect symmetry and beauty of nature itself. It provides us with peace and happiness, and will continue to do so forever.
