Light makes thing visible for us. At night, the sunlight is reflected to us from the moon to light our paths.
The most available source of light is the sun. Energy from the sun comes to our planet in varying wave lengths. The main types of energy that pass through space and reach the earth are of three types: visible light, consisting of the colors of the rainbow, invisible ultraviolet rays and invisible infrared rays. Ultraviolet light causes skin cancer to those exposed to it too long. But these ultraviolet rays are helpful in killing undesirable microorganisms in our environment. This explains why we put our shoes, bedding and clothes under the sun.
Sunlight is needed for the plant process of photosynthesis. By means of refraction, we can magnify very tiny bacteria using a microscope and by means of reflection, we can send messages through the use of mirrors or light flashes.
And also sunlight contributes in some ways, benefits of sunlight on our health go far beyond what the eye can see and appreciate. The invisible infrared waves from the sun provide us warmth. This heat helps our garden grow. Without infrared our planet would be cold like freezers, if that happened nobody will survive!
Some people find that sunlight seems to lift their spirits. Short period of sun bathing relax and tone the muscles, and also act as mild tranquilizer. Sunlight stimulates the appetite, gives one a feeling of well-being and improves restful sleep at night.
