Five Amazing Coincidences

Almost everyone has experienced an unusual coincidence. But, there are a few that stand out over the years for various reasons. Some are quite funny, while others really scared me.

Now that the boring introduction's out of the way, on to the fun part:

The Cursed Car

In September 1955, a man named James Dean was killed by a car accident while he was driving his Porsche. Afterward, the car had some very unlucky occurrences surrounding it.

First, when the car was towed away from the accident, the engine slipped out and fell on one of the mechanics, which unfortunately shattered both of his legs.

If that wasn't bad enough, the engine was bought by a doctor, who decided to put it into a racing car that he owned. He was later killed in a race in which he had been using the car with the cursed engine.

Then, when the Porsche was repaired, the garage that it was repaired in was burned down in a fire.
The car was later put on display in Sacramento, California, but it fell off of it's mount and ended up breaking a teenager's hip.

Later, in Oregon, the trailer that the car was mounted on slipped from it's towbar and smashed right through the front of a shop.

4 years later, in 1959, the car somehow broke into 11 pieces. (and while it was on steel supports!)

The Legend of King Umberto

Monza, Italy.

One day, King Umberto I went to dinner at a small restaurant. When the owner took his order, he noticed that the two of them looked identical. They talked to each other and found even more similarities.

Both were born on the same day, in the same year. (March 14th, 1844)

Both had been born in the same town.

Both married a woman named Margherita.

The owner of the restaurant started business on the same day that Umberto was crowned King of Italy.

On July 29th, 1900, King Umberto was told that the restaurant owner had died that day in a mysterious shooting accident. As Umberto was feeling regretful for him, a wild-looking man suddenly pushed through a crowd and assassinated Umberto.

A Friendly Game of Poker

In 1858, Robert Fallon was shot and died while playing poker. He had apparently been killed as an act of revenge by the people playing with him. They claimed he had won the $600 (worth a lot back then) pot through cheating. With his seat now empty and none of the other players wanting to take the now unlucky $600, they found someone new to take his place, and staked him with the $600.

Later, when police arrived to investigate the killing, the new player had already turned the $600 into $2200 in winnings. The police demanded that he give the original $600 to Fallon's next of kin - and discovered that the new player was Fallon's son, who hadn't seen his father for seven years!

The Mystery Monk

In Austria during the 19th century, a near-famous painter named Joseph Aigner attempted to commit suicide several times.

First attempt - Aigner tried to hang himself at the age of 18, but was interrupted by a mysterious monk.

Second attempt - At age 22, he tried again to hang himself, but was interrupted by the same monk.

Eight years later, he was sentenced to death, but was saved by yet again the same monk.

At age 68, he was finally successful in committing suicide. His funeral ceremony was conducted by, amazingly, the same monk.

The Occurrence of Greenberry Hill

November 26, 1911:

Three men were hanged at Greenberry Hill in London after being convicted of murdering Sir Edmund Berry Godfrey. The names of the killers were Robert GREEN, Henry BERRY, and Lawrence HILL.

Facts on Human Brain

Did you know the brain of 30% of 80-years-old people performs as healthily as young adults? Here are a few interesting and must-know facts on human brain.

Though the size of human brain is small it is a complex organ. The functions of the brain were found by the ancient Egyptians and Greeks in 400 BC. It was Hippocrates who first discovered that brain played an important role in sensation and intelligence. The research into the functioning of the brain gathered momentum from 0 AD to 1500 Ad. During this time period physicians began to recognize neurological disorders and treatments for the same. During this period, many surgical instruments were invented. Today, many researches are being conducted on various processes of the brain. There are many studies focused on disciplines such as neuroscience, cognitive science, behavioral science, psychology and so on. We look at a few interesting facts on the human brain.

A Few Neuro-Architecture Facts on the Human Brain

The central organ of the human body, brain, is anatomically divided into three parts called the forebrain, midbrain and the hindbrain. Here are a few interesting facts on the size and dimensions of the brain.

At the time of birth, the size of the brain is approximately 400gms and later as one becomes an adult, the size increases to approximately 1400gms. Another interesting fact is the height of an adult brain is 3.6 inches and the length is 6.3 inches. The width is 5.5 inches.

The cerebral cortex of the brain consisting of a frontal lobe, temporal lobe, occipital lobe and the parietal lobe occupies 85% of the human brain. The composition of the brain is 10-12% lipids, 8% protein, 77% water, 1% carbs, 2% soluble organics and 1% inorganic salt.

Half of the neurons in the brain reside in the cerebellum. But cerebellum occupies only 10% of the human brain.

Did you know that number of neurons in the human brain is equivalent to the total number of stars in our galaxy? That is 100 billion. There are 186 million more neurons in the left hemisphere of the brain than the right hemisphere.

Are you aware of the fact, approximately 1000ml of blood flows through the human brain every sixty seconds? In a minute the human brain absorbs 46 cubic centimeter of oxygen from the blood. Only 6% of the oxygen is used by the white matter of the brain while the gray matter absorbs 94%.

A Few Interesting Facts on the Human Brain

Did you know a human brain could survive up to 15 minutes without oxygen?
The weight of the brain is just 2% of an individuals total body weight. However, it consumes 20% of total energy. It is believed this energy is more than enough to light a 25 watt bulb.

Can you imagine human brain processes 70,000 thoughts on an average in a day?

The weight of Albert Einstein's brain was 1,230 grams that is less than an average weight of the human brain.

The rate of growth of neuron during pregnancy is 250,000 neurons in a minute.

These are a few of the interesting facts on the human brain. You should also know lavender would help to reduce insomnia and jasmine oil has the ability to restore mental alertness.

Crocodile

The crocodile is a dangerous animal. It kills around 600-800 people per year! Crocodiles are very fast over short distances, even out of water. They have extremely powerful jaws capable of biting down with immense force, by far the strongest bite of any animal. Crocodiles can move up to 28 miles per hour on land.

You can tell the difference between a crocodile and an alligator by looking at their noses. Crocodile has a skinner nose. The most dangerous crocodiles are the Nile and Australian crocodiles. They eat fish, turtles, and water birds, but usually anything they can catch. Nests are built on the water's edge and are really just shallow holes.

There are about twenty to ninety eggs in a nest, but most never hatch due to predators who eat the eggs. The first crocodiles appeared 240 million years ago. They live in wet habitats such as swamps, ponds, rivers, lakes and marshes. Crocodiles can grow up to 7 m or 23 ft in length, and weighs up to 1000 kg or 2200 lb.

Each crocodile jaw has 24 sharp teeth, used for grasping and crushing, but not chewing. They do have a strong jaw when they close but they can't open it if your holding on to its jaw. Crocodiles do not shed their skin.

10 Weird Facts About Jeffrey Dahmer's Childhood

Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer was born on May 21, 1960 and killed in jail on November 28, 1994. He was in jail for fifteen life sentences delivered for the seventeen lives he had taken, being convicted of only fifteen of them. His crimes were gruesome and involved torture, rape, cannibalism, necrophilia and dismemberment. His arrest and the evidence against him shocked the world when he was arrested in Milwaukee in 1991. He wanted the men he killed to stay with him forever and was attempting to turn them into "zombies". He had many different body parts, chemicals and organs scattered throughout his apartment. The building he lived in and killed in was eventually destroyed to pay respect for the victims and the victim's families.

He was born to two parents who loved him. He was wanted, loved and cherished. How did this great start in life turn into the beginning of a story of one of America's most notorious serial killers? Was Jeffrey Dahmer a "born killer" or did he become conditioned to become so awful? The famous "nature vs. nurture" debate rages on. The truth nearly always is some mixture of both -- he was genetically predisposed to violence and the life he lead triggered these predispositions. It's difficult to understand that serial killers are often more like us than not like us. They blend into crowds and disappear looking like any other ordinary person. In fact, Jeffrey Dahmer himself was once quoted as saying: "When I was a little kid, I was just like anybody else." I don't know about you but that scares the crap out of me. Here's ten weird facts about Jeffrey Dahmer's childhood.

Jeffrey Dahmer's mother, Joyce, had a difficult time carrying him.

It's been said that Joyce had a very difficult pregnancy and relied on many different medications to help with nausea and assorted pregnancy woes. It's also been said that "every little thing seemed to annoy her" after the birth of Jeffrey. Perhaps she was suffering from post partum depression which can lead, in some instances, to a difficulty bonding to the baby. Difficult pregnancies and childbirths have also been associated with a difficult bonding process between new mothers and babies. Although it has also been reported that Joyce made an extensive scrapbook for her precious son Jeffrey including his first words, the first time he walked, many photos and even a description of his first scolding.

Jeffrey Dahmer was an animal lover.

He's seen here with a photo of his dog. There have been many rumours that Dahmer tortured and killed animals. However, these rumours are untrue. He spoke of an incident of his friend trying to run dogs down in the road while they were driving to school and how disgusted he was by that. He seemed to genuinely feel badly about the animal's deaths.

He may not have tortured and killed animals but he did like to examine their dead bodies.

He had a fascination with dead animal bones and dead animals. He stated once that he liked the sound of the bones clicking together in a bucket. He liked to dissect dead animals and bleach their bones. There is no evidence that he actually killed the animals that he sickeningly "played" with. Once upon finding a dead dog, he impaled it's head upon a stick. This fascination seems to have started with his father finding a dead animal under the family home's porch. This fascination with death and remains appears to have stayed with him until his death.

He underwent a double hernia surgery at the age of four.

He was not told, or perhaps didn't understand, the details of the surgery. This event seemed to turn a happy, normal child into someone who is confused and withdrawn. He didn't realize the reason for the surgery and was shocked when doctors and nurses were touching him and examining him without explanation. One source even states that Dahmer asked his mother if his genitals had been removed because he was in so much pain. This would be horribly traumatizing and confusing for a boy at such a young age.

His parents fought openly and constantly in front of him before their divorce.

It seems that the Dahmer's marriage was strained from the very beginning. After Dahmer's birth, their arguing began effecting someone besides themselves. Dahmer has been quoted as saying: "I decided I wasn't ever going to get married because I never wanted to go through anything like that." Research has shown that marital squabbles in front of children can deeply scar them and effectively, change who they become.

It has been reported that he was sexually molested at the age of 8.

The validity of these reports remains unproven although molestation would fit the profile of the childhood of a serial killer. These reports involve an older neighbour molesting Dahmer and having the assault go unreported. I doubt we'll ever know whether this attack actually occurred or is one of the many rumors of Jeffrey Dahmer's life.

Dahmer was extremely shy and introverted through his childhood and teenage years.

He went from being a shy little boy to being an extremely introverted teenager who had difficulty connecting with the world around him. He was widely praised by adults for being very obedient when in reality he just didn't care what was happening. He withdrew into his fantasies and spent a lot of time collecting, dissecting and examining road kill.

Dahmer rarely smiled.

His father said that Dahmer rarely smiled. This can be readily seen in his high school graduation photo shown below. Some sources said that his double hernia surgery at the age of four confused Dahmer so much that he became quite sullen. His smiles were extremely infrequent and rarely evident in pictures. This is his high school graduation photo.

Here's one of the infamous photos of Dahmer during his court case. He looks quite ordinary, even mildly handsome but the mouth looks extremely flat. As if it has never smiled at all.

When his parent's marriage finally deteriorated to the point of separation, Dahmer was left to fend for himself.

In his senior year, Dahmer's parents split up. His father left alone and his mother left with his younger brother Daniel. Dahmer seized this opportunity of living alone to commit his first murder just a few days after his high school graduation. By this time Dahmer was a very heavy drinker. He picked up a nineteen year old hitch hiker named Steven Hicks and invited him back home for a few drinks. The two drank and had sex. When Hicks went to leave, Dahmer killed him and cut him up into several pieces. He bagged the pieces and buried them in several areas in the woods behind his home. This murder seemed to shock him and he tried to "clean up his act" for the next several years.

Dahmer joined the Army at the insistance of his father who wanted him to get a job or enlist.

Dahmer tried college for two terms and then dropped out. His father then forced Dahmer to enlist in the army hoping that it would clean him up. Dahmer enlisted for six years but was discharged after two for his heavy drinking. It was later investigated whether Dahmer was connected to a series of killings in Germany during his service there. There was no official link between Dahmer and the killings but suspicions remain.

In one of Dahmer's quotes he says exactly what I've been thinking, "It's hard for me to believe that a human being could have done what I've done, but I know that I did it." Perhaps by profiling commonalities in serial killer's childhoods and lives, we can pinpoint what to watch out for and more importantly, what to avoid when dealing with children. If Jeffrey Dahmer had been stopped after his first murder, sixteen lives would have been saved. Maybe Dahmer's life itself would have been saved too.

10 Facts I'll Bet You Didn't Know

In the original opening of Final Fantasy IIV, when it pans up from Aerith, on the left hand block, one of the signs says "LOVELESS", the poem/play that Genesis was dedicated to in Crisis Core

In Appleseed Ex-Machina, at one point in the movie, one of the characters uses a card that changes what he looks like on the security cameras, and he chooses to look suspiciously like Adolph Hitler.

Despite what science might say, there are people who can lick their elbow.

No one knows what an Egyptian instrument actually sounds like.

Most Germans cannot make a “th” sound without practice

The German word for awesome, Affentittengeil, is translated to Ape Tit Horny(for geil it could mean cool as well, but it's funnier if we use horny)

Korean Barbeque could mean a lot of things, like Bulgogi, Galbi, Makchang, Gobchang, or even Samgyeopsal. (Look them up if you don't already know what they are.)

In the Ah! My Goddess! Anime Series, the whole thing is based off of Norse Mythology. The sisters' names, Urd, Skuld, with the exception of Belldandy, are taken right from the names of the fates in Norse Mythology (which we will now refer to as NM), who guard the tree of Heaven, Yggdrasil. Belldandy is an exception because, originally her name was Verdandi, but when translated to English the Japanese had no way of distinguishing the Vs and Bs, and the Ls and Rs, so we the US decided to be lazy and spell it the easier way, which is ironic as when separated, Bell means beautiful, and Dandy means to be Fair, which in old English is pretty, jaw-dropping, etc. All three sisters, like NM operate Yggdrasil, but Yggdrasil is a giant Computer system that protects Heaven from abnormalities, just like your average computer..... except 1,000,000 times that.

Vanilla Ice's real name is Robert Van Winkle.

Most of you who read this will probably know at east one of these facts and it will probably be #9 if not #3
